DONATE TO COPE
COPE relies on the generous donations of people like you to help the people of Lao PDR. Your donations are used to fund a number of services, from paying for clients costs associated with accessing the Rehabilitation Centre services to our Mobile Clinics which bring those services to patients in remote areas of the country. Join hundreds of others around the world and support COPE today!
HOW MUCH SHOULD I GIVE?
The cost of providing a prosthetic and orthotic device to patients varies greatly depending on the complexity and material necessary to fabricate the device, the distance patients have to travel to reach the Center for Medical Rehabilitation or Provincial Rehabilitation Center, and how long they have to stay at the center to receive treatment.
COPE pays 30,000 LAK (USD 3.6) to cover the daily food costs of patients who have to stay at one of the Rehabilitation Centres. Many patients are subsistence farmers, and some of them would not come for treatment because they cannot afford to pay for food away from home. When necessary, we also cover the food costs of a person or parent accompanying the patient.
Below is an average of the cost paid by COPE for people to receive the following devices:
- Five days food allowance for one person: USD 20
- Lower leg and foot prosthesis for one person = USD 220
- Above knee and foot prosthesis for one person = USD 350
- Lower arm and hand prosthesis for one person = USD 170
- Upper arm and hand prosthesis for one person = USD 240
- Child clubfoot treatment for one person = USD 320
HOW TO GIVE AND RECEIVE A TAX DEDUCTION
Due to the nature of its existence, COPE lacks accreditation as a charity organisation. However, for those in the United States, Australia, New Zealand or the United Kingdom who require tax-deductibility, COPE is a project of the Global Development Group, or GDG [learn more +].
To donate to COPE through GDG, read the instructions and then click the appropriate button. You may also choose to become a sustainable giver by selecting the option to donate monthly! Donors from other countries can also donate through GDG Australia, you will be given a receipt for your donation and would need to check with your local tax office about whether the donation is tax-deductible.
Australian donors must create an account with GDG and then ensure that they specify that their donation is going to Project J553N (COPE’s project number).
US donors donate through Paypal. It’s important to ensure that project J553N is marked in the appropriate place.
UK donors donate through GDG’s account with Stewardship UK’s Give.net. It’s important to include COPE’s project number J553N in the reference section so that GDG knows where to send your donation!
New Zealand donors donate through Paypal. It’s important to ensure that project J553N is marked in the appropriate place.
