Lost an arm in a UXO accident
According to UXO’s victim data published by the National Regulatory Authority for UXO (NRA), between 2010 and 2015, the principal cause of UXO accidents was through making fires for burning rubbish, clearing fields, cooking, keeping warm, making charcoal or intentionally for trying to destroy unexploded ordnances. 261 people were victims of UXO accidents during this period.
That is the story of Mr Jong Veu Yang Siafong, a 63 year-old farmer from northern Laos, father of 9 children.
Thanks to COPE supporters and mobile clinic team, Mr Siafong could receive a prosthetic arm.
